City of Conroe - Incorporated in 1904, the City of Conroe operates under a home-rule charter that was adopted in 1965.  This charter provides for a a Mayor and five councilmen elected at large to serve four-year terms with the terms staggered so half the council is elected every two years in the month of May.  There is a provision in the charter that limits someone from serving eight consecutive years as a councilmen or Mayor.

City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Thursday of each month except during the holidays when the second meeting is cancelled.  The first meeting of the month begins at 6:30 pm and the second meeting at 9:30am.
